Population Forecast, 95% confidence
An interesting graph from a UN report. It’s fascinating both for the data it conveys, as well as the method of conveying: a single line for the historical data point, and then a progressively widening band to show the range of possible scenarios. Organized with overlaying bands, it shows where each region lays on the population size ranking. The world is increasingly African and South Asian, at least in terms of people.
Link, using World Population Prospects 2019 (which aren’t that different from the 2022 revision).
