Leaving the Great for the Good

We can only do one thing at a time.

On average, we only have 4,000 weeks.

We cannot individually do everything.

Choosing what we will do means choosing what we won’t.

We can ask questions like

  • “what can I do” - a question of skill, capacity, gifting
  • “what do I like to do” - a question of preference
  • “what ought to be done” - a judgment of how to prioritize

But all questions and choices have to be set in light of the biggest question of all: what is the overarching thing God is calling me to?

The “biggest goal” is not necessarily the goal that God has for me. For some—perhaps even for most—the right choice is to turn away from what man considers to be “great” and prefer what God has destined for my “good.”

Only God can tells us what that is.

What happened to the unreached this week?

Each Friday I send a newsletter to over 2,400 mission activists, advocates, managers, field workers, and pastors - about what happened among the unreached, and what could happen next. Each issue comes with a curated list of nearly 100 links, and note why each is important. You can get on the list for free.
