Jesus commissions doubters

01 Mar 2023

We are very familiar with the Great Commission in Matthew 28.

We often jump straight to the passage. But step back a couple verses and you see something interesting: the disciples have gone to meet Jesus, and having got there, they worship him–but some doubted.

Even after all they had seen, including Jesus’ own resurrection, they have doubts.

Yet the story does not record a correction from Jesus. Instead, he goes on to commission them.

If Jesus had disciples who doubted, we shouldn’t worry when we or the people we disciple have doubts. It’s okay. We disciple and send them out to make disciples anyway. Doubts are best excised in the daily living out, working out, experiencing an obedience based life in the Kingdom.
