I am willing to bet the world will not end this year. But we are to be about the business of incarnating the Kingdom here, now.

“The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Rather than pulling back and waiting for God to fix everything at his appearance, we should be about the business of fixing things now, using the same values and ideals and methods that God will use when he shows up. We are, after all, as several popular songs suggest, the hands and feet of Jesus.

We are the Body of Christ.

This is therefore a radical thought.

It’s not about capitalism or communism or anything else.

It’s not about what governments can do.

It’s about what we can do.

Jesus says God would clothe the naked.

He would feed the hungry.

He would heal the sick.

He would release the oppressed.

Isn’t this, then, what we, the ekklesia, the community, the Body of Christ, ought to be doing?
