Recognizing who to watch and learn from

10 Jul 2014

In an email exchange, Curtis Sergeant suggested the following list of characteristics by which you might recognize someone to watch and learn from (even if what they are doing is very small today). He gave me permission to repost it.

  1. They practice what they preach.
  2. They pass on what they learn.
  3. They are as excited to see fruitfulness from others as they are from themselves.
  4. They are concerned with building the Kingdom rather than their kingdom.
  5. They concern themselves with the depth of their ministry and let God determine the breadth of their ministry.
  6. They invest heavily in a few fruitful people.
  7. They are in regular accountability for their lives and ministries.
  8. They have eyes to see where the Kingdom isn’t and are drawn to the last, the least and the lost.
  9. They are producers and not merely consumers.
  10. They are humble learners.
  11. They steward their existing relationships but are not consumed with them in order that they can seek out persons of peace among the least-reached.
  12. They are passionate for the Lord and His Kingdom.
  13. They are driven by hope, walk by faith and live in love.
  14. They are continually growing through applying Scripture, prayer, ministry in community, and persecution and suffering.
  15. They are persistent and persevering through difficulties.
  16. They seek God and His Kingdom far above other concerns.

What happened to the unreached this week?

Each Friday I send a newsletter to over 2,400 mission activists, advocates, managers, field workers, and pastors - about what happened among the unreached, and what could happen next. Each issue comes with a curated list of nearly 100 links, and note why each is important. You can get on the list for free.
