The small islands
The Falklands: West Falkland, East Falkland… and 770 lesser islands. I’ve often pondered these and other “small islands.”
Micronesia: covering 600+ small islands.
In the context of missionary strategy, how does one deal with these many small, isolated, disconnected places?
Some islands are owned by single individuals, of course. I’ve recently seen several episodes on television of people buying islands. It’s kind of interesting to watch but has little implications for missions.
Some islands are uninhabited. Likewise, few implications.
But what about the rest? How many are inhabited? How cut off are they? Do they “count” for missions?
When the “big pieces of the pie” are tackled and finished (which assumes a lot) – how do these small, discrete pieces (so like remote rural villages) get handled?
Know any strategies or ministries focused on islands?
Roundup
What happened to the unreached this week?
Each Friday I send a newsletter to over 2,400 mission activists, advocates, managers, field workers, and pastors - about what happened among the unreached, and what could happen next. Each issue comes with a curated list of nearly 100 links, and note why each is important. You can get on the list for free.
