Single Men in Missions, 2: big orgs do better?

17 Jun 2013

One tidbit that is starting to show up as I gather more data: the larger the organization, the better the gender balance in singles.

Also, larger organizations seem to have more singles, across the board.

Organizations with fewer than 500 workers seem to be predictably less than 15% single.

Organizations with more than 500 workers seem to be predictably more than 15% singles–and the percentage of singles who are male is nearly always over 20%. (Out of 7 large organizations there are two odd exceptions.)

I am still attempting to collect more data. If your agency can help (and you haven’t already), I’m looking for:

1) total workers on the field (actually deployed, not in process) 2) of those, the number who are married (I assume even numbers of men and women!–grin) 3) of the singles, the number who are male

(I can compute everything else given those three data points.)

What happened to the unreached this week?

Each Friday I send a newsletter to over 2,400 mission activists, advocates, managers, field workers, and pastors - about what happened among the unreached, and what could happen next. Each issue comes with a curated list of nearly 100 links, and note why each is important. You can get on the list for free.
